Easy Buttermilk Drop Biscuits

If you are in the mood for some easy buttery biscuits, wait no more.  These are so easy and quick to make.  This recipe does not require rolling the dough or a cookie cutter.  They are absolutely dreamy when warm with some butter, chia jam, or made into a sandwich.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk, chilled
8 tablespoons butter, melted and slightly cooled

Heat oven to 425 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with a Silpat or a lightly greased parchment paper.

In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.

In a small bowl mix together the buttermilk and melted butter.  The butter will form clumps in the buttermilk and that is normal.

Stir the buttermilk/butter mixture with the dry ingredients in the large bowl.  Mix well to make make sure all the ingredients are well incorporated. Make sure the mixture is wet and dough.

With a greased 1/4 cup measuring, scoop the dough from the bowl and drop it into the baking sheet.

Bake the biscuits for 13 to 15 minutes.

Optional – after removing from oven, brush the top of the biscuit with additional melted butter.

Serve warm.
