5 Benefits of High Intensity Interval Training

Everyone is super busy and tries to fit a workout into their schedule.  We have all been there when we have the best intentions of working out but our busy life takes over and we are unable to exercise.  This is where HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) comes into play.  You can do this exercise ANYWHERE!  You don’t need equipment at all.  All you need is sneakers and a water bottle to quench your thirst.  There is so much research out there that you can do 30 minutes of HIIT and get the same benefits as running for 60 minutes.  This gives you so much time back to do other important things you have on your growing to-do list.

Burn More Fat

Interval training puts your body into a fat-burning machine.  You will continue to burn fat after your workout is completed.  The fat continues to burn 24 hours after your workout is finished.  That sounds amazing, doesn’t it?  Even running for an hour doesn’t provide the fat burning 24 hours post-run.

Happy Healthier Heart

Doing HIIT workouts regularly, decreases strain on your heart.  The amount of blood your heart is pumping per beat, increases which gives your heart a great workout.  This increases the strength of your heart and makes it more efficient.  HIIT decreases your risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.  HIIT workouts also increase your stamina which allows you to push yourself more easily in other activities such as running, cycling, and swimming to name a few.

Increases Metabolism

According to Shape Magazine, HIIT workouts stimulate the production of your human growth hormone (HGH) by not only increasing the calorie burn but slows down the aging processes.

No Equipment Needed

You can do a HIIT workout anywhere!  You don’t need any equipment to get a good 30-minute workout.  It is such a convenient workout that can be done in a gym, at home, or outside.

Extra Free Time

Since you only need to carve out 30 minutes, 3 times a week, you will gain so much free time back.  It makes it so much easier if you can walk out your front door and do your HIIT workouts.  The drive time is eliminated and it will be a true 30-minute workout.  You will be so happy to have invested in your health and still have time to tackle your to do’s of the day!

HIIT works so well because of the post-workout fat and calorie burn.  With the traditional moderate-intensity workout such as fast walking or using an elliptical for 30 minutes, you slowly burn fat and calories.  With HIIT, you are starting and stopping which is much harder to do than exercising at a moderate pace continually.  HIIT provides such a huge benefit when you are exercising and also not working out.  So why not get started!
